About Us

A “miniature city” known as the Children’s Safety Village teaches safety skills to prevent childhood accidents and injuries. This unique concept provides children with a realistic approach in recognizing safety hazards found in everyday life. The “city” includes miniature buildings with paved streets, sidewalks, a functioning traffic light, a railroad crossing, a fire safety house, and a water safety complex. Children learn how to practice safety through hands-on exercises, role-playing activities, and other participatory techniques. Studies prove that children who experience hands-on safety instructions have significantly fewer accidents.

The Children’s Safety Village is open to Day Care Centers, Private Schools, Public Schools, Head Start Programs, and other groups. Classes offered include; bicycle, pedestrian, water, fire prevention, danger person awareness, firearms injury prevention, poison prevention and car seat safety.

History

Since 1994, Children’s Safety Village of Central Florida has been one of the community’s leading authority in current information and statistics pertaining to childhood preventable accidents. Our focus has been to significantly reduce preventable accidents, injuries, and fatalities among our young children. We are located in Orlando on an eight-acre property site that is near the Central Florida Fairgrounds.  The Children’s Safety Village is operational year-round and its miniature “city” includes child-size buildings, paved streets, sidewalks, crosswalks signals, a functioning traffic light, a railroad crossing, Fire Safety House and a Water Safety Complex.

Our facility provides a realistic hands-on approach to learning. We teach children to practice safety through hands-on and interactive activities and role-playing exercises at our facility.  Each year, the Children’s Safety Village educates over 8,000 school children and teachers by providing onsite field trips.  Our community outreach services provide information to over 20,000 families and individuals throughout Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties.  Our programs and services include School Field Trips, Fingerprinting & ID Services, Scout Safety Classes and After-School and Summer programs.  The Children’s Safety Village is one of Central Florida’s leading authorities in childhood safety programs.

Our educational programs include Pedestrian Safety,  9-1-1 For Kids, Bike & Helmet Safety, Water Safety, Fire Safety, Gun Safety, Dangerous Person Awareness, Walk- Ride-Thrive, Poison Safety and Internet Safety.  Professional law enforcement officers, firefighters, nurses and others county support personnel have contributed to the development and design of the Children’s Safety Village programs and services.
